I didnt make it, but i am told .....
Congratulations to Dan Sturgess who, at the ECA presentation dinner last Friday night was named in the ECA Team of the Year. Dan's award culiminates from his excellent season as both DCC captain but premier run scorer averaging just under 60 for the season.
Nathan Azaredo also swept the ECA awards, winning both batting ( av 149) and bowling ( Wickets at 24 @11.10) in the C1 synthetic grade. Nathan also won the prestigious Glynn Cousins award as Deepdene Bears Club Champion
James Paterson ( C1 Captain ) was also on hand at the awards night collecting the premiership trophy on behalf of the Bears C1 winning squad.
In recruiting news, the Club is delighted to announce the re-signing of Leigh Parsons for another two seasons, with Leigh adding the required senior stability combined with his brilliant flair and competitive talents with both bat and ball.
Finally, I am saddened but also delighted to announce the temporary departure of top line keeper and bat, Matt Wilson. Willo has won a senior promotion with the ANZ bank, and will be based in Sydney.
When asked will that see him playing in Sydney and therefore lost to Deepdene, his response was " definitately not, I'm now a Deepy player, and once a Deepy boy always a Deepy boy". So best wishes to Willo, and we look forward to him playing a few games with us next season, who knows with a finals berth up for grabs, there may be a work transfer request back to Melbourne.
More big news breaking soon.
The AGM will be at the end of May or maybe first week in June.
Regards
Tim Norton
