In a town called Carrickfergus 10 miles out of belfast.
Went down to Dublin on the 17/18 of april to play some practice matches, lets say they didn't go well. Got hit for 40 off 6 on the sat and made 27. On sunday went for 45 off 7 and didn't bat. But had fun anyways.
Played our first league game on the 24th against the reigning premiers who had Kyle Mckallan and a bloke called victor Mptisang who plays first class cricket in SA and played ODI's for SA 10 years ago. We didn't go very well we were 8-64 at one stage but ended up making 150 in the end, number 9 and 10 put on 82 for 9th wicket. I made 17 batting at 7. they did it easily by 8 wickets. I took 1-12 off 10 so it was a good start for myself, but not so much the team.
Last weekend we travelled to a place called Lurgan and the wicket wasn't favourable so we bowled first. They started well then rain halted play for 60 mins and then play resumed (only losing the 1 over so game reduced to 49 overs). We got a wicket first over after the break and then the next 2 put on 100 and then when we got their pro out they crumbled but in the end they made 206 off their 49. I bowled garbage in my first 3 overs going for 17, but then fought back well to take 1-35 off 10. We started well but lost wickets regularly. I came in at 4-80 after 20, so we put on 40 for the next wicket then had a bad mix up and he got run out for 47 so we were 5-120. I stedied the ship then started to play shots and in the end went out with 20 to get and made 50. Got the runs 7 down with 3 overs remaining.
Tomorrow is a cup game vs The Hills who are full of ex-pats and I can't play due to some stupid rule. But going to watch the lads and have a few beers.
Really enjoying it over here the guys are really nice here, beer is cheap but am going to the gym so am looking after myself.
How is Melbourne any news? Except the swans on top.
Anyways hope you have a good weekend and look after yourself and say hi to everyone for me.
Regards
Danny
