But unfortunately miss out in the 20/20 gigglefest
Not the greatest weekend for the Bear boys with the ones the only side to get over the line.
On a wet sticky Deepy wicket Luke Sturgess played a gutsy match winning knock of 41 while Grant Hanson chipped in with a valuable 28 and the Bears got home against Bulleen and stitched up a Finals spot. At one stage the Bears were sitting near the bottom with 1 win and 3 losses on the board. To win the next 7 straight including an outright has been a huge effort. This week we play our mates Mulgrave at Mulgrave.
The seconds fell 20 short in their chase. Jeremy Quin the star with 4 wickets.
The Thirds were washed out both weeks as Straddy looked like the local pools.
The fours copped a bad loss with Arthur Bell 60 odd not out helping the Bears post a competitive 220. Old Carey got them easy with overs and wickets in the shed.
The fives chasing 250 were all out for 111.
20/20 Semi Final was not a good day for the ones. Outplayed by a more hungry Willows who had just come of an outright loss the previous day. Willows got 134 from 20 while the Bears fell 16 short. Juddy Strempel with 47 not out showed the way as all other Bear bats struggled to get going.
Last round of the season approaching. Firsts and fives will play finals. We need good numbers around the club this week and plenty of support this Sunday at the BUNNINGS BEAR BBQ in Hawthorn.
