Papa Bears Col's Vets Report

Deepdene Bear ”C” Vets 7/142 c.c. Def by Park Orchards 7/144 off 35 overs.

Well men, so close and yet so far.
We batted first on the synthetic track on their large ground, which made it difficult to score boundaries. We finished our innings with 142 off the 35 overs with the main contributors being, Capt Watty 40 Ret. & Speros Beasley 40 Ret.
Watty’s pep talk at the half way mark, indicated that we were short 20 odd runs and that our bowling and fielding needed to be extra tight for us to get the points.
Both opening bowlers Greg Sebire 0/6 off 6 overs and Aussie Pete Douglas 1/13 off 6 overs, putting the pressure on them from the start, then being ably supported by Kevin Hannett 1/30 off 5, Cam Dunn 1/22 off 6, & George Braoudakis 3/18 off 6, it was going down to the wire. But alas, even with continued pressure on them in the last 4 or 5 overs by taking 5 wickets, they were still able to hit the winning runs in the 35 over.

Now Looking to the Future

Round 7 is this Sunday 7th Feb 2010.
