Bears defeat Tempelstowe to consolidate final four position.
Deepdene Bears 5/130 off 32 overs Def Templestowe 10/127 off 35.1 overs.
Templestowe decided to bat having only 10 men, on a Cloudy day with Rain eminent.
Considering coming back from our Holiday break our bowling was tight and our fielding was excellent. Kevin Hannett showed his dexterity by “Donning the Gloves” behind the stumps, and picked up our first wicket, with a catch from an inside edge that Haddin would be proud of.
Greg Sebire & “Aussie Pete” Douglas opened our attack and both provided accurate bowling with “Aussie Pete” returning 0/18 off 6 Overs. & Greg 3/12 off 6. Other bowlers with success were George Braoudakis 3/17 off 6, Phil MacIsaac 1/12 off 3 , Colin Walker 1/12 off 3, & Andrew Watt 1/22 off 4.1. Some 8 Catches were taken. A great effort.
Our Batting line up was strong and we were confident we could overtake the 127 runs, however our greatest threat was that rain might come and terminate the game. Both openers Watty (3) & Lou (4) failed to make an impression on the score, so with a steady approach from Chris Penman (16), then, Grant McRae (27), & George (42 n.o. ) with his own cheer squad, placed us in a strong position for James Paterson ( 11 n.o.) & Mark Chilcott 6 n.o.) to finish off the target with 4 overs to spare.
Man of the Match - George 42 n.o. & 3/17 well done.
